Some info on the AMG GT S
High Performance engine – the newly developed AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine.
The newly developed AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine in the Mercedes-AMG GT combines outstanding performance with ideal weight distribution. It is installed as a front mid-engine behind the front axle and connected to the transmission at the rear axle via the torque tube in a transaxle configuration. The presence of a dry sump lubrication system furthermore results in a significant lowering of the vehicle’s centre of gravity and greater lateral acceleration.
AMG sports suspension
The Mercedes-AMG GT offers outstanding driving dynamic capabilities that are sure to delight. The interplay of a drive system in a transaxle configuration, an AMG double-wishbone sports suspension and an aluminum spaceframe results in a low vehicle weight, a low centre of gravity, excellent rigidity and a balanced weight distribution of 47:53 between the front and rear axles.
The aluminum space frame
The complete body shell structure of the Mercedes-AMG GT is an intelligent all-aluminum design. The objective here was to achieve the best possible lateral and linear dynamics, as well as maximum steering precision, with the help of a very light yet extremely rigid body shell. With a weight of just 233.3 kg the aluminum space frame meets this aim and, at the same time, offers the level of safety that is so much a hallmark of Mercedes-Benz.
